Christmas Pudding

Much lighter than a suet pudding and can be made alcolohol free (which was the original recipe).
Ingredients
8oz butter,8oz soft brown sugar,9oz plain flour,12oz currants,8ozs raisins,6oz sultanas,2oz mixedpeel,1oz almonds,2oz cherries,8oz breadcrumbs,1 tspn mixed spice,2 eggs,1 tbspns black treacle,1 small glass of Sherry ,Milk to mix (if necessary)
Method
Soak the fruit overnight in some sherry (or cold tea for alcohol free). Melt the butter and mix with all the other ingredients including the fruit. Add milk IF necessary.Put in a bowl, cover and steam for 6/7 hours. Prior to serving steam for a further 1/2 hours.
