I have been using this recipe since the 70's and it has never failed me. Soaking the fruit for a few days before hand does ensure that it will be a moist cake.

Somebody requested a suet free pudding a few years ago, so here it is. Alcohol can be substituted for the tea.
This is ideal if you are unable to get suet
this recipe makes 2 puddings cooked in 1 pint pudding basins( cooked 1 at a time) can be cooked over night( an extra hour or so wont hurt them)but will darken them.
