Chocolate tray bake
Submitted by janjam 07 February 2012
Very fudgey chocolate cake.
Ingredients
110g butter,
120ml boiling water,
2 heaped tablespoons cocoa powder,
190g caster sugar,
130g plain flour,
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda,
60ml milk,
1 egg.
Frosting
50g butter, 1 heaped tablespoons cocoa powder, 1.5 tablespoons milk, 100g icing sugar, sifted
Method
Line a brownie tin with grease proof paper. Pre-heat oven to 160c fan oven. In a saucepan place the butter, boiling water and cocoa powder. Heat it over a medium heat until the butter melts and it begins to bubble. Bubble the mixture for 30 seconds and take off the heat. Mix together the flour, caster sugar and bicarbonate of soda, mixing them now should stop you getting any lumps of flour. Add this dry mixture to the saucepan and give it a good stir. Add the milk and egg and mix well again. Pour into the prepared tin. Bake for 20mins, leave to cool in the tin. To make the frosting place butter and cocoa powder in a saucepan and gently heat until the butter is melted, give it a good stir and remove from the heat. Stir in the milk and then the sifted icing sugar. Mix until smooth and then pour over the cake still in the pan. Leave the frosting to set, cut into slices and serve.Recipe images are not uploaded yet.
