Bog standard choc. cake

I use butter icing to fill and top. In the summer add strawberries or any soft fruit to each slice and omit top icing but add a dollop of cream, yoghurt, creme fraiche. Have been known to drizzle strawberry sauce over but only after the third glass of wine !

 
 
 
 

Ingredients

6oz Plain Flour,3 tblsp cocoa,1 tsp baking powdert,1 tsp bicarb.,5oz caster sugar,2 tblsp black treacle,2 eggs beaten,5fl oz sunflower oil,5fl.oz milk

Method

Grease and base line 2 x 7 inch sandwich tins. Set oven to Gas 3.
Sift ingredients 1 - 5. Add the rest and beat until very smooth. Bake for 30 - 35 mins. Leave to rest for 2mins. then turn out onto rack.
