Bring, very slowly, to boiling point, keep it boiling for 6 mins stirring ocassionally, but watch it doesn't boil over.
Carefully stir in the butter bit by bit.
Continue to boil to the soft crack stage, (to test have a bowl of cold water and place a little of the toffee into it, if it goes hard but pliable between finger and thumb it is ready)
Remove from heat and pour gently into a well greased shallow tin about 9 ins square.
When cool mark into squares, When cold break into pieces.
Wrap in Silicone paper formed into cones or in an airtight tin.

Treacle Toffee, (Bonfire Toffee)

Take one dark, cold, clear night. Warm up with a Big Bonfire. Sprinkle liberally with lots of Fireworks. Keep Safe
Ingredients
Makes about 1lb,,8 oz Dark brown sugar,8 oz Black Treacle or Molasses,2 tablespoons of Cider Vinegar,2 oz butter cut into slices,,
Method
Put sugar treacle or molasses and vinegar in a large saucepan and stir over low heat until sugar is completely dissolved.Bring, very slowly, to boiling point, keep it boiling for 6 mins stirring ocassionally, but watch it doesn't boil over.
