Floridian Coleslaw

Submitted by Michele 30 June 2009

This recipe comes from Florida. It was given to me by my cousin, whose friend gave it to her. My cuz makes it all the time and happened to make it for us last Sunday to accompany poached fresh salmon. Despite the added sugar, I can assur

half white cabbage (shredded),2-3 carrots (peeled & grated coarsely) few spring onions (finely sliced),1 tbsp toasted sunflower seeds,1 tbsp sesame seeds, 1 tbsp flkd almonds, half cup oil (not olive),8 tbsp sugar,6 tbs rice vinegar crispy

mix all the veggie and nut ingredients together in a bowl just before serving. Mix the oil, sugar and rice vinegar together until well combined. Stir into the vegetables & nuts just before serving, to keep everything crispy. If using, sprinkle the crispy noodles on the top of the salad bowl just before serving. All the separate ingredients can be prepared/weighed out in advance, and everything mixed together just before serving, to keep everything crispy.
