Christmas Mulled Wine

If you don't drink this all at once, it reheats well.
Ingredients
1 bottle red wine/,3 oz. soft brown sugar/,1 orange stuck with 12 whole cloves/,2 teaspoons mixed spice/,2 cinnamon sticks/,Juice of 1 orange and 1 lemon/,Pinch of freshly ground nutmeg,
Method
Put all the ingredients in a pan and heat very gently, without boiling, for one hour.Strain into a clean pan and add 1 wineglass of rum OR brandy OR whisky.
Heat gently and serve in heatproof mugs/glasses.
