I first tasted this gorgeous recipe at my cousin's house and have been in love with it ever since. It's a great favourite with all my friends and family. Can be used without the bacon to create a vegetarian dish.
This salad will keep for a day or two only because the nuts will go soggy and the red onion will make the salad a bit overpowering if left in for too long.
2 oz butter 2 0z caster sugar (or 1 ½ oz if you find it too sweet) 2 tbs boiled water
