I bought some plastic bowls with lids from a well known retailer. If I am going to put the lid on would you suggest I still put greaseproof on top?

I’m making the Creole Cake for Christmas, but won’t have time to soak the fruit for 7 days. I will probably only be able to soak them for 3 days. Will this cause much of a difference to the final cake?
