Icing cakes!
I have inadvertently volunteered to make a cake for a function. I have never properly iced a cake before. I have done a bit of research but my main two questions are:
1 Can I use Delia's recipe for fondant icing in a mould?
2 Could I use a place a moulded marzipan shape on top of the marzipaned cake and then ice (with royal icing)? Or do you think the icing would just make the moulded shape look like a blob?
Gooseberry Muffins without elderflower!
Hello Lindsay, you helped me before, so thank you, I would appreciate your help again. My muffin tin has arrived today from Silverwood, and I am wondering about the recipe for gooseberry muffins. I must admit I dont think I like elderflower cordial. Is there anything else I could use please instead of that. Thanking you, Avril.
Steaming the Canary Sponge Puddings
Can the Canary Sponges be steamed in a tower steamer instead of over a saucepan?
Rolling the Chocolate Hazelnut Meringue Roulade ahead
Dear Lindsey, I am shortly making the Chocolte Hazelnut Meringue Roulade for an evening dinner. I am wondering how far in advance can I roll the meringue + cream up without it going soggy? It would help my planning a lot if I could do it in the morning, or at least lunchtime! Thank you.
Dinner party prep!
I am having a dinner for friends, Chicken Basque, pears in red wine and chocolate tartlets as shown in how to cheat book. Can I make these tartlets the day before and keep them in the fridge? I am doing this with both the chicken and pears.
