Asked on 25 Oct 2016 by skinno Delia's stem ginger cake which is made in the oblong tin. Once made what is the best way to store it? Does it have to be kept in the fridge or can it be stored in a air tight tin out of the fridge? Lindsey, Food Editor replied Hello, This cake doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge. It will keep for 3-5 days in an airtight tin or lidded polythene box. Or you can freeze it (or some of it) if you want to store it for longer. Kind regards Lindsey Storing and Freezing Cakes and Biscuits skinno replied Can you use normal icing sugar instead of fondant? Lindsey, Food Editor replied Yes you can.
