I have made smoked mackerel pate with ricotta cheese but get an aftertaste. I have adjusted the lemon but it seems to make no difference. Any idea what I am doing wrong please?

Hello,
When you removed the skin was there a dark brown layer beneath that went into the pate? That can have a bitter taste. A little more salt can help counteract a bitter taste.

Thanks, I am not sure what was underneath the skin but I made another pate with mackerel from M & S rather than Waitrose and there was no after taste.
