Dessert: Château de Rouquette 2001 (Loupiac, Bordeaux, France)

A velvety dessert wine with aromas of citrus fruit, honey and acacia, it has intense apricot and peach flavours with a crisp lemony finish – the perfect balance to the sweetness of the apple pie.

LoupiaccroppedAlthough a dessert wine, in the Southwest of France this velvety “sticky” is traditionally also enjoyed as an accompaniment to rich foie gras dishes.

Made from a blend of 85% Botrytised Semillon and 15% Sauvignon it should be served chilled at 8-9 degrees. Boasting aromas of citrus fruit, honey and acacia, it then delivers intense apricots and sweet, ripe peaches and a deliciously crisp lemony finish to enhance the Torta di Mele, balancing the sweetness of the apples and freshening the palate.
