Rancid butter

Haven't a clue what galangal is, or need to know what to use if you can't buy creme fraiche locally? We're sure our knowledgeable members will be able to point you in the right direction...

Morrisons (Rancid butter)

I suppose it could be funny but there are thousands of people working for Morrisons maybe some even members of this site who might feel sad about being described in the way they have been in this thread. Certainly the Morrisons staff in my local branch are almost 100% good - 95% excellent, and the rest very acceptable. I've only ever met one who I didn't like and he might just have had a bad day....we all do from time to time. Worth remembering that the people who work in these places are just folk, like us, with feelings.

Morrisons (Rancid butter)

Entirely agree Tom. My daughter worked there as a Saturday girl for three years. Most of the staff I/She encountered were lovely hard working people.

Morrisons fresh meat and fish are far superior to any of the other supermarkets locally - including Waitrose, and they regularly have good special offers/deals on these counters.

They offer staff discount immediately (Sainsbugs is six months) and there is a similar, though not as generous, staff bonus scheme every year.

Our local Morrisons was always spotlessly clean, but my only gripe is that they rarely had all of the tills open and queueing was always an issue during busy periods.

Can't say I've ever had a problem with rancid butter anywhere.

Saffy (Rancid butter)

I agree totally. I can't think of a single UK multiple that is unacceptable. Sure, some are skewed to the top of the market and others to the bottom, but my friends tend to shop in the cheaper places for 'commodity' products like tinned tomatoes, and more expensive places for special occasion meat.

As for staff, again I can't think of any chain that is unacceptable - yes occasionally we come across a bad one but heck, we all get out of bed the wrong side occasionally. According to my close family who have spent serious time working in retail face-to-face there is a really horrid element to the 'public'. Some people are so abusive you wouldn't believe it.

As for the rancid butter thing it is a problem that I have in common with a small (5%) proportion of the public. I am sensitive to rancidity way before 'normal' people. It is a curse. I've proved conclusively that it's not my imagination, doing blind tests at home. My brother is the same, but my sister isn't. Go figure :)

I do feel uncomfortable about really negative posts criticising people who are doing their best, even in jest. The problem with this medium is that we don't see the small smile on the lips, the tongue in cheek or twinkle in the eye. The words are bare by themselves and stand alone.

It might be that a well-known poster thinks "Everyone knows I'm only joking" but what they don't know is that for every regular poster there are a dozen or more others who read but don't post, and who don't know when they are 'joking' or being abusive. Nuff said, but I agree with you.

Oh get a grip people!!!

By all means shop there if you want to, apparently I'm at fault for demanding quality produce.

Go figure.

I have, and I sent a group text but it only seems to have gone to half the people I sent it to, Saff!

I suppose I'm old-fashioned but I hope I'd have said something like "Sorry if I offended anyone...." and not "Oh get a grip people!!!" Perhaps you are a generation behind me and politeness and consideration towards others is less tolerant today. Sad, I think. :(( "Oh get a grip people!!"
-- very sad response. :(( Anyway, end of, for me.

OK OK...if dear Lemondrop and others insist:

1. I apologize for my statement that I dislike McDonalds and consider their food to be full of salt.

I also apologize to those people who were deeply offended or traumatized by this statement.

Rancid butter

What an incredibly childish level this has sunk to!

If you want to put people off DOL forums I think you're succeeding.

So True Sonya

I stopped visiting the forums because of this type of petty minded behaviour. I lurked very occasionally as it seemed to have eased (along with most of the posts), but I find the silly childish bickering incredibly dull. These forums used to be incredibly lively, friendly and informative but there is little evidence of any of that these days.

We seem to have come round in a circle since your first post about supportive forums!!

But to be fair, more people are posting now and there have been some interesting threads and useful information too, in other areas.

Just this particular topic seems to have gone rapidly downhill!
