I've done this before....

Welcome to our Coffee Break forum! Here you can chat to other members, not just about cooking, food and recipes, but anything that takes your fancy. Share your stories, culinary or otherwise. So. What’s on your mind today?

If overcrowding is a problem...

If "overcrowding" is a problem, though I don't really understand the problem... then you could combine 'Equipment' too. If by combining some of the categories it will save the site money... I would think that would make sense to do that.

I've done this before.

" To clarify, I meant the above IF Coffee Break is reinstated. We really do have more than sufficient forum areas already. I can't honestly believe that chat is being restricted by the titles of any or all of these multiple existing areas anyway!"

I don't believe for a second that anyone actually thinks they are restricted because of the forum title.

I think even changing the name is pointless, it will make absolutely no difference in the slightest.

Forum titles

Well I agree, James. And if you look at even just the list of topics on the first page, you can see the current title hasn't stopped non-cooking chat. None of the following are related to food at all:

Bored of moving!

Let's dish the dirt ...
Embarrassing moments over the Christmas period ?

Sales anyone ?
Has anyone ventured out into the sales ?

Mmmm.

I appreciate your point... that roughly works out at one chatty thread every two days... I remember a much more busy site.

If you don't think change is necessary... then leave things as they are. But I can see that there are number of people who think it might be worth a try. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Perhaps it's up to the regular posters to make the decision.

It's probably rather up to Noreen and her team to make the decision, in all truth.

But I take your point about regular posters - although there aren't many of them now. My last post was a week ago, so not sure whether I qualify as a regular or not by these standards.

Forum titles

I still think it would be better to have Chat Forum and then cooking forum, so you could choose which to look at, rather than wading through both on the same page.

It works well on other websites, as some people aren't interested in
"how nice it was to check in every day to see if a new child or Grandchild had been born , to even celebrate with a poster when they got a new pet"

they may just want advice on cake sizes, saucepans etc.etc.

Regular posters

The only reason I mention that perhaps the regular posters should be allowed to decide is because Noreen actually asked people in an earlier post what they would like to happen. Of course Noreen and the technical team have the final say in such matters. But we are only giving an opinion because we've been asked by Noreen. Once people have aired their views, then it's left with them to make any changes they feel would benefit the forum and I'm sure that would be appreciated. After all, the forum is for us and not the Team.

I would imagine that everyone would like to breath a bit more life into the forum and it seems to me that the way forward is to attract some new blood into the community and hopefully regain some of the old community feeling.

I've done this before.

Interesting that the "regular posters" on this thread have not been near this forum in months and now decided they want name changing etc to be done.

Posting ...

Hello, I haven't been on here for a long long time, but have read through all the posts on this thread and I'm afraid that no matter what you call it, I probably won't be coming back on a regular basis. Sorry. I occasionally look for a recipe but as don't do so much cooking these days, that is rare too. Good luck with whatever is decided. M xxx

Regulars

The regulars I'm referring to are the genuine regulars James. I don't consider myself one. I feel that they should be the ones who help make the decision that may perhaps help resurrect the forum to it's former glory.

I get the feeling that some people on here don't really want to do anything at all to improve the situation... they just give negative responses and not constructive suggestions.

I think it's a shame that it can't again be a thriving community with lots of activity like other forums. It's certainly makes no difference to me and I'm sorry, I shall just leave you all to it.

I wish you luck. I know Noreen will do her best for you all.

Biggles !

Hello from France

" But the bit about the vanished French contingent is still true, I think!"

Hello, yes, sadly true. I'll try and pop by a bit more often. I've been coming to the site to use Delia's recipes but not really popped into the Community area. It's lovely to see many old friends again and hopefully some new ones too.

Anastasia, I'm not sure if I have ever told you but my husband adores making, and then eating, your Piccalilli recipe. Thank you.

Forgot to say......

I've returned because a 'Regular' poster contacted me. I have really missed the site and as Saffy has said I also have received so much help from many people over the years here. I think it would be fab if the site were to become a bit more lively.

How lovely to hear from you, welcome back!

Hello Biggles

Oh how nice to hear from you.
Hope all is well with you.
Thank you for the compliment .x

Thank you both....

Thank you too. We are well but had a year full of opportunities last year. Although I've not been posting I often think of many of you and appreciate your lovely recipes and /or help. Ananstasia, the piccalilli hubby makes from your recipe is always complimented and I tell people it is the recipe of a friend on DOL, if they are British. Several French are enjoying it too. I continue to introduce them to new things, but slowly. And I learn about new foods, to me, from my neighbours.
