Chips.

"
It maybe a generation thing that "older" people own chip pans or more likely younger ones can't be bothered to peel their own potatoes. "

That's certainly not the case based on the people I know.

Jeremy Kyle watching chavs, yes, but not most people by a long shot.

None of my friends buy ready meals or anything of that nature. In fact, I've just taught a 21 year old guy how to make his own bread.

(and if you need to be lazy, you can buy them ready peeled!)

Gas Chips

I love the way this thread wobbled into a discussion on chips...:-)

Err to answer the first question - gas. Love gas.

Chips - not so keen. I think it could be an older generation thing to suggest that young people can't be bothered peeling a potato. As James says, I dont think this is the case at all. Maybe they just think that boiling a load of old fat is just not worth the effort and not very healthy either.

I did hear a discussion though about chip pan fires happening the most when people (not just men I believe women are able to frequent public houses these days), came home from the pub and fell asleep in front of the telly, leaving chip pan to catch fire. Far safer just to go to the chippy surely..

chips

I did boil a load of old fat the other week and the chips were really lovely. It may not be the healthy way of eating but once in a while won't kill me, I hope.
If I don't post again you'll know the reason why. Death by home cooked chips :o)

Chips and the like

NOTHING is bad in moderation, (except maybe smoking). Alcohol is as bad for you as fat but no one seems to care about that. Most people won't eat chips daily but will drink alcohol daily! Don't get me wrong, I drink too and probably far too many 'units' than I should per week but I hate the way everyone goes on about chips and fast food as if they are the devil reincarnate!
What I say is a little of what you fancy does you good, and nice and horrible are simply down to personal preference.

Chips Etc.

I totally agree, Liz.

I've said before, I know its awful, but I do enjoy McDonalds occasionally. I do it about 2 or 3 times a year, same with KFC and Pizza Hut. Also if Im out and about I might occasionally pick up a hot sausage roll somewhere.

Whatever ends up finishing me off, I don't think it will be my occasional fast food treat. I know its all rubbish, but I enjoy it.

I eat a balanced meal most of the time, and some times Im a bit naughty. Ah well! I can live with that!

Bannocks

Bannocks I am relieved you are here to tell the tale. You see ? A quick nosh on a KFC is far safer.
