Thanks Noreen - I did the F5 operation and can see the chick now. Just wish I was as computer-literate as all you lot!

When I tried to change my photo, I wiped everything out. Had to get my son here to sort me out. So don't worry Essex Girl, you're not alone!!!!!!

"Sue G, is that a bought in chick, or did you manage to raise some of your own? You didn't come back to me to let me know if you were successful."

Sorry for not getting back in touch after you gave me such good advice.

So far we have managed to raise 5 chicks. 4 poussin we bought from the pet store, we made a incubator(sp) for them, they lived in the kitchen until big enough to move to the hen house. We were told the were egg layers, so far no eggs, maybe by the time they were due to start winter set in. They now live in the large house with the Silkie coq.

The chick in the photo, she is my Baby, her mum is a white silkie and had been laying eggs but not sitting on them. We tried to hatch them but it didn't work.
Then she sat on just one egg. Day 19 i decided to move her away from the big hens, so she could be quiet. Kids had been counting the days. On day 21 they saw the egg was open and the chick just lying there Bridget was sitting in the other corner. Hubby told me to just leave her, but i never listen to him. Moved the chick into some warm hay and placed Bridget on top.
I really thought it wouldn't make it, she was really cold, after a couple of hours it started to move and Bridget turn out to be a really good mum.
As the hen are really big i was worried about putting Bridget & the baby back with them, so now they have there own little house. Baby follower me everywhere and comes into the house and sits by the door until we give her bread. She is know as Baby as silkies are hard to sex for a few months.
