Todays recipe of the day..

Asparagus Fuiellettes is the recipe i wanted to make.

We really love the chicken version.

And i thought the aspargus version would be yummy.

The BBC were correct, and would have got their information from the same place we did....

Asparagus

me again.

Foodie, mentioned it was a shame you can't freeze asparagus then you could have year round english.

I just did some binging and googling - and it seems you can (i have never thought to do it before - but i have made chicken and aspargus pies before).

you need a bowl of iced water handy - but you basically blanch the whole stem after removing the snappy off end) for 1 minute only - put straight into ice cubed water, and the asparagus must be totally cold - then gently patted dry with kitchen paper - open frozen on trays, then stored in a tuperware box - and re-cook from frozen for moments.

best eaten before 9 months in the freezer.

Asparagus.

Waitrose also had UK grown in stock in my local branch this morning. Its slow going, there is not much of it, but it is out there......

I don't even like it much!

Looks like Waitrose will be getting our order this year. Today I counted 7 spears!! Don't think we are going to get more than a couple of servings off them at this rate. They're still young plants and we have to leave some.

M&S seems to have plenty of UK asparagus. Thanks Sam, did'nt think freezing would work on asparagus.

Plenty of English in our local Waitrose yesterday - 25% off. You can have my share - one of the veggies I don't like.
