Welshcookie/Violet eyes

No, Welshcookie I haven't met her it's conclusions drawn from what I've read. The other royal in-laws don't court publicity. That's all I'm saying on the subject.

Violet eyes, so pleased your boy is well and going true to form by sleeping as usual! One is on the sofa, another on a chair, one on the top of the fridge/freezer and one is hunting!

Pippa

Wendy what a lovely picture you paint of your cats. I can just imagine them all doing what cats do best. They are such lazy little devils aren't they.
The sun has just come out and I don't think it will be long before I hear the sound of mine jumping off the bed, it sounds like an elephant has landed.
If there is an afterlife I want to come back as a cat.
Speak of the devil, I must go now :o)

Delia and Pippa

"It's publicity, innit? More fool Waitrose, IMO, makes Waitrose look very shallow. If Delia and Waitrose 'fell out' for whatever reason, fine, but you don't replace a Delia with Pippa! :0 Waitrose's 'Gerald Ratner' moment?"

Thanks for this, Noreen. I feel a little better now!

Delia and Pippa...

Ooops wrong quote in previous post! I will try again:

Noreen's quote: "Just to also explain, Delia wasn't dropped by Waitrose, nor did they fall out.

She wanted to launch her online cookery school, which has and will, take up most of her time."

Thanks for that Noreen. I feel a little better now!

Delia and Pippa

There's no comparison. I don't know and have never met Pippa but I don't think she is the right person to write a food column for Waitrose. I regularly pick up the Waitrose magazine so look forward to see what she has to say. The Press has said "like her book, Pippa's new food column will be past its sell by date almost as soon as it has hit the shelves". In fairness to her, it's the Press that hounds her not that she puts herself in the limelight. How would we like to have cameras pointed at us every hour of the day. Whatever she does is going to be splashed over newspapers.

Not with you there buckets but don't deny your right..

Hi buckets. If you go back through all recorded history people have risen up the greasy social pole from the bottom to the top. On the whole 'social climbers' are despised by the 'middles' - I confess that's my instinctive reaction but I'm not proud of it, any more than I'm proud to envy my neighbour's car, house, job or wife.

Everything I hear about William these days impresses me. He has refused to follow normal protocol - has Christmas at his in-laws - and I truly believe that when he becomes king he will be a breath of fresh air into the monarchy, and the nation. Prince Albert truly reformed the English monarchy (OK, 'German') and when it's his turn William will also.

Since I don't know the Middleton family I'm more inclined to respect his choice of wife, rather than the tittle tattle in the press.

Why is it, I wonder, that most of us (me included) despises what we perceive to be 'social climbing'? If for no other reasons, the addition to the royal gene-pool of strivers must be good? Nobody could accuse the Middleton family of being shirkers. Or 'hangers-on' come to that?

$64,000 question. Will Her Majesty the Queen cut Charles out the succession? I think she will. I think she has to. Aside from HM's official appearances she gets all the Cabinet papers and has weekly 'audiences' with the PM. Charles has upset the political classes by interfering in what they consider to be their territory and, it seems, leaking sensitive information into the public domain. If Charles succeeds I think they'll withdraw the monarch's right to the Cabinet papers, turning Britain's semi-monarchy into a stage show.

Just my view, not everyone will agree.

Waitrose Magazine

I picked up the magazine yesterday and I'm afraid I'm not impressed with Pippa's contribution. Could be it is too soon to criticise but.....

Probably useful advice to people who watch Eastenders ;)
