Coffee Break....

" I agree with every word that Honey has written about the forum.
It used to be fun on here , so many laughs , so many topics , everyday we had something different to discuss, so many laughs along the way,

So true, Anastasia!

By the way Sonya, Honey has always lived in the UK; I think you'll find it's Yummy who has just moved back from France.

My mistake!!

Thanks for the correction!!

My apologies to Honey and Yummy - I obviously wasn't thinking very hard when I posted!!

But the bit about the vanished French contingent is still true, I think!

In our defence...

All we did was change the title of the forum from Coffee Break to What's Cooking. We never stopped anyone from talking about what they liked and in fact the heading to this forum has always read the same

#This is where you can exchange food, recipe and cooking advice and questions. Your post doesn't have to be strictly food related, just tell us what's on your mind!#

The only thing we have ever asked people not to post was jokes, which was years ago, we have never minded what subjects are discussed...

I've done this before

hi SonyaK, yes it was me who came back home after living in France. We are settling in nicely thank you, and are very happy to be back closer to our family. They were finding it increasing difficult to visit us, growing families, all the kids at school and only ever being able to visit in the summer hols.....which was increasingly expensive. That and the prohibitve rules in France on inheritance for married people with two families......so lots to consider, but so glad we did. Thanks for remembering me xx
Hope you are all OK in Australia, and not in any pending danger with the fires and excessive heat. My thoughts go out to anyone out there who is suffering at the moment.

Even in the short time that I have been looking at Deliaonline I have felt it is not quite so lively nowadays. The Coffee Break area sounded a really good idea. It is a pity it has not been reinstated. I am on facebook but I still like looking at Deliaonline and seeing if there are any interesting comments.

Coffee Break...

Was just the name of the forum, we (as in Delia Online) haven't changed anything other than that - and it was 5 years ago.

If we changed the title of What's Cooking to Coffee Break would that make a huge difference? If so, we are more than happy to do so.

Coffee Break.

What's cooking makes me think just that , what is everybody cooking.
Coffee Break to me covers a multitude of topics, after all whan you have a coffee break it is a chance to have a natter in general about everything.
Perhaps it is just me , but I really do feel that a heading of Coffee Break is much more welcoming if you fancy posting something that is not food related.
I have been on this site almost since day one , & as I look back I realise that the activity on here for a couple of years made the site almost addictive for me , it was somewhere I went more than once day.!!!!
I really have learned so much from the people who post on here .

Coffee Break.

Anastasia, I couldn't have put it better myself. I used to "pop in" at least once or twice a daywhen it was called Coffee Break. Whats cooking to me has always seemed like "What are you cooking tonight etc. " I don't do Facebook or Twitter. I'd certainly vote for calling it "Coffee Break" again

coffee break

that sounds a great idea. There are the other forums to post on when wanting help about ingredients etc. I'm sure this website will spring back into life when people can have a little natter about things other than cooking. And if people don't like what is being talked about just don't read it.

I've done this before.

Its only a name, the posts have not changed, people just move on. There is no action on the facebook page either......

avatar
Anastasia

What's in a name?

Yes James only a name I agree , but personally I do feel that Coffee Break lend itself to covering everything , whereas What's cooking , to me is just that , What are you cooking.
Perhaps Noreen could ask who wants what??

Honey

Coffee Break

I never really understood the reason for changing it in the first place? What was wrong with Coffee Break?

Coffee Break...

Anastasia - if enough people want it changed, as I said in my earlier post we will change it.

Honey - we changed it when we relaunched the site. Nothing was 'wrong' with Coffee Break, we just wanted to make the forums different

Coffee Break

I don't come on here as much as I used to although I do look up recipes, peoples profiles for recipes etc. and occasionally look in to the forum.
For me personally it's not because of the name of What's Cooking being changed from Coffee Break.
I seem to have a bit of trouble with the connection at times, I appreciate it may be to do with Internet Explorer although I don't have trouble with other sites, and I also get 'pop ups' even though I've blocked them and the adverts on this site seem to often appear over what I am writing as I may possibly have nudged the mouse or something, not sure but it bugs me so I come off and don't bother.
Also got tired of the constant sniping and controversy and then people got 'banned' and it all seemed a bit clique and so I decided it wasn't really for me.
I do look in sometimes though, obviously, and I definitely come here for recipes and advice.
