May Queens

I missed this thread. I have often thought it a pity that we don't have May Queens anymore. We always had a May Queen and attendants and it was a great thing to be chosen as May Queen for the year. I am sure little girls would still love dressing up I was never a May Queen or an attendant my mum could never afford it :(

My May Day

A bit late though. Friends came for barbecue, pouring with rain. Barbecued chicken under the veranda. One cat decided to be sick, cleared that up. A dog then decided to be sick on the sofa, cleared that up then dog sick again. Coffee percolater decided not to work and the diswasher came out in sympathy and didn't work either. Food good, company excellent and then the sun came out and we all went for a walk. Good time had by all. Roger did the washing up (bless him!) Happy May Day.

May Day Wendy

this is nothing to do with May Day but your post Wendy about the cat and the dog both being sick reminded me of my dream last night. The cat was sick all over our unmade bed and I was rushing around trying to clear it all away before the OH came home, or it may have been curtains for the cat :0( piles of sheets were everywhere.
Glad your day went well, hope the pets are ok today.

May Day

We still have the May Queen celebrations in our village. The girls were never keen on it so I never entered them.

May Day, VE

All animals back to normal thanks for asking but can't say the same about the dishwasher (not Roger, the automatic sort!) and coffee percolator.

I wouldn't like your dream to come true so tell Blackie not to be sick in the house.

Dog ill

Wendy your post reminds me of an incident years ago when I had a dog and he would always sit under the table when we ate, even if we had guests, but he just layed peacefully and did not beg or pester anyone. Anyway, we had a glass table those days and one day when we were having people round for a meal, we were happily eating when the dog sat up and was violently sick under the table (then proceeded to eat it)which was plain for all to see!It really put us off our meal and we never let the dog sit under the table again!!!!

Linzechris & dogs

Oh Linzechris, your story did make me laugh! Dogs certainly have disgusting habits don't they? Mind you the cats aren't much better, one in particular brings his 'catch of the day' into the house & puts it in his bowl then proceeds to eat it. I won't tell you what it looks like when he sometimes vomits it up!!

Polite Cat

Well at least he puts it in his bowl so his manners are impeccable!

poorly cats and dogs

the 2 cats I had before the one I have now were brothers and when one was sick the other one would eat it. My boy isn't often sick but when he is he usually throws up behind a door. So I check behind the doors every morning, just in case.

Sick cats & dogs

VE. At least your boy goes behind the door mine just vomit wherever the fancy takes them!! Yes, and like a lot of animals eat it up again, except when there are, to put it politely, animal parts involved then it's on with the rubber gloves and out with the bleach!

Linzechris. Yes his manners are impeccable. None of the others put their prey in bowls they just it wherever they are.

Such is life with animals.

sick cats

oh Wendy what a day

Tigger is sick about twice a week - I'm always on the lookout for a 'present' on the carpet. She will eat it too, given half a chance.

she started doing it a lot more often for spell last year so we took her to the vet. He's a lovely gentle Indian man who pronounces it 'womit' so it will be forever know as 'womit' in our house...makes us giggle every time
