Scotch Scallops

"I am from Chorley and my mum regularly used to make Scotch Scallops for us - we loved them. They were simply sliced potatoes shallow fried in a frying pan. They were quicker to make than chips and as kids we preferred them. Maybe it is just a central Lancashire thing, but as a Chorlean, it pains me to have to agree with a Wiganer!"

Wow !! this topic is ages old, nice to hear from you, and good to know that the recipe your Mum used is the same as mine....must be more healthy than chips too, don't you agree.
ps if you are new on here perhaps you could have a look on the What's Cooking thread about saying hello to us all ?
Nice to "meet" you anyway .

Scotch scallops

You are right, scotch scallops are just sliced potatoes fried
In the fry pan on top of the stove. My Mum made them for us as Kids. I still made them the same way, great on a slice of bread and butter. This is the way we do them in Farnworth Bolton. Sliced potatoe in batter are called Specials..!!
These things were invented in the Farnworth Bolton area.

Give them a try... Gyprocjoejoe .
