Orange juice

I would imagine 'freshly squeezed orange juice' in the shops is sterilized somehow, as home squeezed orange juice starts to go off, flavour-wise within hours.

fresh orange juice

The last time I squeezed an orange for juice it tasted odd.
I think the secret is in the quality of orange. I very rarely find a decent orange to eat, let alone sqeeze, in this country. They taste nothing like the ones you buy in those lovely markets when abroad.

Oranges

I recently bought some really juicy and sweet oranges from Tesco. They were Spanish.

I forgot the orange juice!

After all your fabulous replies, I decided not to squeeze the orange juice in advance.

However, I completely forgot to ask anyone if they wanted any orange juice!!!

Freshly squeezed orang juice

For anyone still using a manual squeezer, the electric ones that are essentially like the manual ones but with the spigot powered by a motor are really worth having. When we lived in Spain we used it all the time. Look for a sharpish reaming part, easy non-drip pour leaving the electrics on the counter, and sufficient capacity (ours is marginal for two). Worth every penny and square inch counter space if you are a regular squeezer. Spanish and Brazilian oranges are both good - Valencia late are good. I buy one to try it then buy more if good next time I'm in store.

Super tip: Buy the budget from cncentrate longlife from the supermarket (Morrison's is 65p per litre) and add around 10% fresh squeezed. You will be astonished, I promise you.
