" Capital letters do not indicating - they EMPHASIZE something ! OOps sorry I suppose exclamation marks are also not allowed. We are adults, not school children. And now I suppose this won't be "approved ". "

Talk about how to make friends and influence people..............

I am intrigued to know...

How many people do you think work on the site?

Cheap Diet Food (and good manners!)

What an incredibly rude post. For a start, there are many types of diets - low fat, low carb, Paleo, low calorie, low GI - are you asking for Delia to include all nutritional information of every ingredient? Are you incapable of using Google to look up the nutritional values of the ingredients you want to use? There are hundreds of sites out there with this information on them.

Personally, I live on a very, very limited budget, and yet have managed to lose 5 stone since August, strangely enough without relying on Delia to do the work for me. I suggest you do your own research and take responsibility for what you put in your mouth. Meanwhile, I'll work off a few more lbs by laughing uproariously at the idea of a whole squadron of people working on this website!

"
My original post asked for Delia to do better - this site has enough people working for it. Or is it just the wealthy retired ones who sit reading this all day. Must go, work to do."

You clearly have no idea then do you. I'm not wealthy or retired for a start!

Also, it is actually a very small team, of, I believe, just three people who run this site, and all of those have other roles and responsibilities outside of the site.

I have so many cookery books now, and very few of them have calorie contents printed in them unless they are a dedicated slimming book. This site just features the recipes as they were in the book. Get calorie accurate counts for publishing actually involves sending the food off to a lab and it is very expensive. There are over 1400 recipes on here.

It's not something I'd expect to see on this site, or in a Delia book as she does not claim to be an expert on dieting or a nutritionist.

You worded your original question very aggressively, they started to attack other users, all of whom gave your perfectly reasonable suggestions. Then you changed the question and attacked this FREE web site. Don't like it? There are plenty of others out there.

I'll end with a quote. From my favourite TV show Absolutely Fabulous. Said to Edina Monsoon by her nurse.

'You want to lose some weight? You want to get off that fat bottom of yours and do some exercise!'

Personally, after your insane ranting on here, if I were working for this site, I'd have deleted your account.

Next time you come back, remember to bring some manners with you.

I make no apologies for being retired Chris - it's called age. Neither do I apologise for being comfortably off I know damn well how hard I have worked to get there.

I find your comments insulting to say the least.

I believe you will find that by and large this forum is made up of extremely friendly and helpful people.

Most tend to treat others with the same courtesy and friendly respect with which other forum and web team members - and indeed Delia herself - are treated, if that gives any tips to newcomers.

Cheap Diet Food

I'm almost always on some sort of diet. I'm a typical yoyo dieter. As soon as I hit target weight I relax and the wobble returns. I tend to follow Slimming World plan for healthy eating and keep my diet as low in fat as possible. Many of Delia's recipes fit in very well with the SW eating plan.

I'm also a working Mum on a limited budget. Yes, I'd love to be eating scallops, steak and expensive fruits on a daily basis but alas my pursestrings do not allow such luxury. I can, however, eat well, with plenty of lower priced fruit, veg, meat and fish.

I have mixed berries for breakfast every day, but buy them frozen as they are about a third of the price of fresh. I stock up on more expensive cuts of fish or meat when they are on the reduced section or on special offer. I've done this for years; we were on an extremely reduced budget for a couple of years when hubby retrained in a completely different career. 13 years ago my budget for food, clothing and entertainment for four of us was £35 per week. It was extremely tight, but I managed it. I would get free bones from the butcher (told them it was to make stock) and then would boil them up and make stews out of the meat that was left on the bone. Soups were made from the stalks and peelings of the Sunday roast veg. Tins of tuna were stretched into a Salmon Surprise (cheese sauce, tuna and mash..... the surprise being it was tuna and not salmon)!

It's not always easy cooking well on a budget, but it can be done. Lentils, pearl barley, soup thickeners are your friend!!

Good luck.
