Tangerine marmalade - jars

Ooooh, they're nice big jars (1000ml). Have you thought of preserving some of those tangerines in a liquor of some sort, ie brandy? Something instant for a dessert.

Preserved tangerines

Thistledo, I never even thought of it, but what a good idea. I only have the two 1 litre jars so it will have to wait a bit. Rather than wait for those jars I might have a go with a small batch as I've never done any preserving.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Fresh tangerines

"The tangerines came off our neighbour's tree and although I like them being given two carrier bags full is rather more than we could eat!
Wendy"

Wendy, why not squeeze some for your early morning drink? Much nicer and better for you then shop bought fruit juice.

Squeezed tangerines

Good morning, Gerry

I did try that but as soon as I began to squeeze them they disintegrated so wasn't getting much juice at all. It happens with some oranges, too. I don't know if the skins are too soft or what. It's only a hand lemon squeezer that fits over its own jug, maybe I'm using too much pressure but if I lessen it I don't get any juice.

Wendy, tangerines

and clementines etc; no they don't yield much but taste delish and I don't rate pre-squeezed juice at all. We too have only a hand-squeezer.
