Heating plates in the microwave

I've never tried warming plates in the microwave but will try it out. If we are having hot food I always heat the plates. For just the two of us we eat off pyrex plates. I switch on one of the hotplates on the cooker for less than a minute and then turn it off and place the plates on the hotplate. When we have guests I use my china plates etc and bring into use my hostess trolley for the food and china. A hostess trolley may be considered old fashioned but I wouldn't be without mine.

Heating plates & hostess trolley

If I remember, I heat mine in the top oven when the bottom oven is on - that's just enough heat to warm through, but I will try the microwave next time for speed.

My Mum used her heat trolley for making meringues - really slow dried out & white result, just like shop bought!
