Girl...

I'd say "badly written" means full of errors, its not.

I've now read about another hundred pages though and its not happening.

Quite frankly, I could not care less who murdered the girl 36 yrs ago............

I'll carry on! There are only 3 or 4 books I've ever started and not finished, this will not be another.

Girl ..

I have read all three, and while I enjoyed them I did think it was all a bit 'emperor's new clothes'. They are good but not brillant. I think one fault which adds to the length of the books is that the descriptions of places and how characters get from A to B are very long - I am not familiar with Sweden and place names mean nothing to me so a journey describing all streets on the route just make for a very long read.
However, they are good, but I definitely would not read all three in a row - leave a break of another book in between!

Exactly

"Emperor's New Clothes" - Daffodil Girl, you took the words right out of my mouth!

Larsson books

I've read all three now, and to my mind, they're not bad - I found myself gripped now and again - but nothing on such thriller writers as James Patterson and Jeffrey Deaver (in their heyday anyway). I think it's partly a cultural ting - I found it off putting that the characters were called by their surnames, for a start - but I did enjoy getting a few glimpses into the Swedish psyche and way of life.
