Kindle

I've got lots of free apps on my iphone and also the Kindle app on my computer (a Mac.)
Most apps I have are free and I've never been charged for an update. I'd just refuse unless I really wanted it - they can't just take money without you allowing it!

Kindle apps are free because Amazon wants everyone to be able to read Kindle books on any platform - computer, tablet, phone etc. You pay them for the books, not the app.

Wendy - downloading books from Amazon has to be done from the correct 'zone' for where you live. In Australia we have to use the USA site as we don't have one here. In UK they have to use UK site, and I believe Italy has it's own site now.
Maybe 'objects' (i.e. slow cooker) have different rules to downloads?
