roast chicken

Hi there from New Zealand!
What are your thoughts on the technique of roasting the bird on a beer can full of water? Would that still provide me with the lovely juices I need to make good gravy?

Question choice

I'm not querying why my particular question wasn't chosen, but it was a shame to look forward to learning things and getting useful tips and then find so many questions seem to have been chosen to present opportunities to plug books about to be published.............

Oh what rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a grip Liz North!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is barely a question on this thread that is not already covered on this web site.

There was clearly no agenda to promote a new book, it was mentioned a couple of times, and its only an old book being re published anyway.

People can be so ungrateful.

For at least 50% of the questions the answer should have been "search the website you idiot" but Delia did not say that to anyone............

Gripped firmly

James, James, James........there was no ungratefulness mentioned. It just seemed a shame that after reading so many fascinating questions many of the ones picked just had answers that referred to books rather than had straight solutions or answers. And one question at least was picked where Delia told the questioner to (I paraphrase) 'go look it up - this is basic' - good for her, as it was really basic and a quick search of her or any site would find an answer, but a waste of a question when there were so many interesting ones that had been asked. What's ungrateful about being interested in the great questions being asked in the weeks leading up to the chat?
