Holiday food

This spate of good weather has made me think of holidays and what I like to eat when I get there!

Today I passed a tapas restaurant and wished I was sitting in the Majorcan sunshine with a bottle of white Rioja and a platter of meats, cheeses, chorizo and tortilla.

Where would you like to be?

Holiday food

Either eating a BBQ'd lobster with a chilled glass of wine in Davos in the Phillipines, or visiting a Lobster Pound in Maine. Both memorable.

Eating on Holiday

I would like to be on a visit to my cousin in Crete, eating and drinking in a local taverna or enjoying a lovely meal in The Wicked Walu in Fiji.

HOLIDAY FOOD

We're on holiday for 2 weeks in a quayside cottage in Waldringfield, Suffolk. Tonight we're having whole wild seabass roasted. I'm adapting a recipe by MPW served with a bottle (or 2) of chilled white wine. the weather as been great and food from Jimmy's farm and The Suffolk Food Hall in the fridge. Tomorrow Red Poll beef steaks hung for 28 days, yum. foxy x

Food

Not sure if I should join in this thread or not as I'm on permanent holiday here. To me it doesn't matter what we are eating, seafood, meat or pasta or in some cases all three! Good company and sitting on the terrace watching the sunset makes it perfect for me! Or if we go out for a pizza then once we have eaten it then strolling round the town eating ice-cream along with all the other families doing the same thing.

Bombero - my fave rum is Havana, discovered it in Cuba and we love it. In Jamaicy we drink Appletons but at home we buy Havana. Fascinating that you lived in Jamaicy - arent they just the most wonderful people, I love the sense of humour there.

I would happily join you in Majorca for your tapas and white rioja,Noreen!

I also recall a fab fish shack on a very quiet beach in Greece. We used to stop there on our way in the morning to let the owner know we would be eating there later. Then, after a day on the beach, we'd head there to see what fish he had bought from the fishermen. He used to cook it in front of us on the fire, and served it with fresh oregano and lots of lemon splashed over, accompanied by a salad and wine from a bottle kept cool in the sea.

It's a deal Jamps, then we can pop over to Greece and have the fish....

It's a plan, Noreen! And then from Greece we can make our way to a fab quayside trat in Portofino that I happen to know serves up the most divine fish soup that anyone could ever dream of, absolutely laden with mixed fish and seafood like shrimp, langoustine, mussels, clams.....

....pass me the ciabatta to soak up all the juices. I'm drooling at the memory!

I'd love to be sitting up in the Alps gazing at the view with a picnic. A chilled glass of wine for me, cold beer for hubby, baguette, salami, cheese, tomatoes and pickles plus fruit cake and tea for later. After a lovely walk, a bbq in the garden with more wine watching the sun slowly sink down on the horizon. Perfect. chillie

How about.....

A plate of Italian salami and cheeses, a tomato and basil salad (with bread for juice), a bottle of rose and a view over a pretty Italan bay (any), with nothing to do all afternoon, but to have a snooze before dinner?

That works for me. No salad though! :)

I love tapas. There is a place here in Brighton that has just finished a fab offer that I loved. Ten quid and you got a glass of wine and could just order as many tapas dishes as you wanted, about three at a time I think. Only on a Tues and you needed to book but it was great fun. I prob did not get full value as my appetite is small but my friends could put loads away!!! Might be why they stopped it :)
