Le Saucier?

Have any of you come across a "Le Saucier" and do you know where to get one (either UK or USA)? It's sort of a free standing hot plate with a small round saucepan on top. There is an automatic stirrer inside the saucepan. It's terrific for making sauces without the fuss. The snafoo I have is that the only place I've seen one is in my old flatmate's kitchen!

Le Saucier

I had one given to be once that had been sitting in a friend's cupboard because she never got round to using it. The same happened when I had it so I eventually took it to a charity shop and it's possibly now sitting in someone else's cupboard doing nothing. Unless you have lots of room in your kitchen or you find it difficult to make a sauce, I can't really see the point of having one.

Nor me, what's wrong with a good non-stick milk pan and a wooden spoon ?? Do you really need a special electrical gadget to make a sauce ???

why?

It was handy to be able to do other stuff while the sauce took care of itself. It was also handy to free up a burner in the shared kitchen.

white sauce....

easy to make...I use Carrs sauce flour and milk, no butter and whisk until thick....

Le Saucier.

I know someone who has one and he loves it. Says he would replace it in a flash if it broke.

Whilst making a sauce is no problem, the idea of freeing up space, and having it being taken care of by itself is appealing, but as there is only two of us, its not something I'd buy.

So..um..hypothetically speaking...where would your friend go to replace his if he needed to???

Le Saucier.

No idea! I don't think he realises that its been discontinued!

Le Saucier

I stopped using mine because I found the stirrer and the part it fitted on to very difficult to clean. I must say that apart from that it was convenient if the meal was delayed for any reason.

Lakeland sell a battery operated sauce stirrer,at the moment reduced from £14.79 to £7.99 perhaps you could look at their site.

microwave version?

I'm sure I've seen something like this in the past that fitted in the microwave. In the early days of the microwave oven when you had to keep on stopping it to stir things so they brought out a 'gadget' that fitted into the pot or pan and stirred the liquids as the plate revolved....or am I going mad :-%

Does anyone recall this....haven't seen one lately but it would be good for doing sauces in the old MW.

You can get it on the French Amazon site. I've left a link for it on the Can You Help? forum on this website. Hope it helps. x

I seem to remember seeing this in the Lakeland catalogue a while back but I don't know if they still do it.

Go to Tefal's website as they have an on-line purchasing site.
