Great British Bake off starts a new series Tuesday 8pm bbc2. Will anyone be watching?

We only started watching the last series but were totally hooked!

The cake quota goes up at work which can only be a good thing and its great to gossip about. Looking forward to it : )

bake off tonight

Yes I'll be watching as always. They are doing a chocolate showstopper tonight so that's one for the cat to watch. He loves anything chocolate as long as it doesn't have an orange flavour to it.
But I I've gone off Paul Hollywood, no matter how nice his eyes are.

Oh no...saltgate! Poor Toby, liked him. Some very proficient and creative bakers. Never heard of a 'courting cake', that was interesting.

The first episode was really good -great television. I have bought the book to accompany the series and I shall be watching every week.

Finally caught up! Is the cat still watching VE...not so tempting veg cake.Is the book worth having Esther?

The Berry was looking very Zesty last night. The Hollywood has been a bit serious not feeling the love this series and I missed Glenn this week.

They all seem to be unfazed by the technical challenges unlike the last lot.

So who are the Runners and Riders? We think Ruby 'the bit random flavour princess' is edging it.(My mate Ed does a brilliant impression of Ruby doing an emotional weather forecast!) Although we did shout at the telly 'get a grip and its only a cake'

Are you all still watching? : )

Yes me and the cat are still watching, his ears twitched a bit last night on hearing the word mouse, those grey ones on Beca's cake. But I told him thay weren't made of chocolate so he turned round and had a nap.
I couldn't be on that programme I'd be a bag of nerves all those people watching you on TV. So they do well just being there. I'm not bothered who wins.Good luck to them all.

Ha ha. They do apply to be on the telly not kidnapped from kitchens across the uk so they must have some element of showoff within! still I think thats the joy of bakeoff and they actually have talent unlike some attention seeking loonies on other reality show! :0

Yep, hooked here too. Sorry to see Christine go, thought the comments to all of them about their show stoppers were a bit harsh, & the cheese & mouse cake looked so clean & tidy, whatever Paul said about it being simple - I actually think Ruby's cake was a bit of a mess, like her bench (she is really annoying me now), but overall the standard is very good. I do agree about style over substance comments, but when we can' taste what they have made it is tricky to be objective. I don't think I could cope with the pressure either, even if it is only a spot of baking, I think the time they allow is so very tight .... I'd want all day to make some of those & to decorate them properly.

I don't think any of it is simple. If I had a modicum of their skills maybe I would'nt be so ecstatic when I remember to take muffins out of the oven when the timer pings....and I love muffins!

The limited time though is genius it applies the pressure. I used to think 4 hours, thats ages...know a little better now.

Baking eh...A little bit of unadulterated pleasure.

Miffed.... Beca did not deserve to go! If they are truly judging it week by week I do not understand that decision? Ruby gave up on the brain cake!! If you are gonna do something, anything...why not do it to the best of your ability, it is a competition?

Frances to win...style and substance :) failing that Sue and Mel they are brilliant!

No, I disagree. I don't think either of the others can beat Kimberley. Her technique, knowledge & results have been speaking for themselves in the last few weeks. Ruby hasn't upped her game enough, everything she does is really messy & her lack of knowledge & skill shows more as time goes on - unfortunately I think she's just a bit too young. And I think that although Frances produces some amazing looking things, which they say sometimes taste good, this is not always the case - and baking is about eating & not just about the decoration. So for me, Kimberley has what it takes & I think she deserves the title.
