Least favourite cooking task?

I've just finished preparing Delia's kipper fish cakes and have decided that egg and breadcrumbing is my least favourite task in the kitchen. Three plates to wash up and messy hands etc, ugh!

What task do others dislike?

I used to hate removing the leftover chicken from the carcass it's so greasy but I now I don't do it very often, shame because I like roast chicken. I agree about the breadcrumbing now that is messy especially if the phone rings. I may think of something else I dislike, I'll let you know.

Well, these days it has to be breaking eggs for separating or frying as the yolks tend to break so often. I'm on tenterhooks just to produce a decent fried breakfast! The thought of mayo reduces me to a wobbly glutinous mass in the corner of the kitchen.

Another thing I don't like is scraping "new" potatoes the ones you buy out of season as in the winter, they take ages. I don't often buy them but sometimes a recipe calls for them and you have no choice.
I don't mind doing them in the summer when it's much easier.

Not exactly cooking - but I detest cleaning out the dishwasher filter. I'd rather clean lavatories!

Peeling onions. The chopping bit is bad, but ok. It is the peeling that pains me.

We haven't scraped a new potato for about 20 years. They actually taste better with the skins on - just scrub if needs be and remove any sinister-looking bits!

If you feel you have to peel them, it's much easier to do once they're cooked.

does cleaning the oven come into this category?

if not, then.....

de-skinning billions and gazillions of tomatoes to make relishes and chutneys etc.

oh, and shredding kilos worth of runner beans ready for blanching and freezing.

Considering how much I love cooking, there are a lot of things I don't like doing......grating cheese as I usually end up with no skin on my knuckles (bit worrying when others have to eat it!), peeling celeriac and chopping the darn stuff, peeling a very ripe mango (it just won't stay still!), boning chickens and cooking a full English breakfast when we have guests as I worry about the cooking timings and keeping it all hot. I like Butternut squash...alot.In soups and roasted.

Peeling and cutting up a butternut squash.I've only tried this once and it was such a proper palaver, really tricky to peel and hard to chop up. I buy the ready prepared packets which are so much more expensive.

I've had a look on the site for help but cannot find anything. If anyone has an easy method I would gladly give it another go!
