Artificial Sweetener in Meringue?

Hi folks - I'm new so apologies if this is a silly question..
I love food.. however am currently trying to lose weight :-( so wondered about whether it was possible to make meringue using artificial sweetener.. all the recipes I've read say to use very fine sugar and I wondered whether this would work.. so it would make a low calorie option I could then use low fat fillings with? - any ideas whether this would work?
Many thanks for your suggestions

Artificial Sweetener in Meringue?

Helo Aliboh and welcome to DOL.

I don't think artificial sweetner will work for making meringues. However, if you are trying to lose weight, one small meringue with fresh fruit and ice cream or yoghurt could easily be incorporated into your daily weight loss plan. Making your own yoghurt is good too, cheaper and tastier than shop bought.

Welcome

To Delia Online - and rememeber, no question is a silly one.....
