Steam oven help

Has anyone used a steam oven?I am having a new kitchen,so have been looking through the Miele brochure and am keen to hear from anyone who has used one. The pros and cons .I am a keen allotmenteer so blanching veg and bottling appeals to me. They are expensive so I would expect it to earn its keep! brochure claims that you can reheat food in them .My microwave gets used for reheating home cooked food so it would be good to replace it with something more versatile .

Steam oven

Hello, you may already have decided what equipment to buy to be installed in your new kitchen, but here is my view all the same. I have a Gaggenau combi steamer which I love. It is in use every day. The temperature can be set from 30 to over 200 C and the steam level has 4 settings from 0 - 100%. Reheating is called regenerating and is done at 130 at 60% steam! the results are beautiful. Since I own this oven I have started conserving produce from my garden in Le Parfait jars. They are sterilised at 100 degrees at 100% humidity. Four of my friends own a Miele steam oven, they need to fill the water reservoir, mine is on the water mains, and the temperature can only go up to 100. I think the Gaggenau is more versatile, but has a price tag. Hope this helps.

steam oven

Hetty many thanks that's helped me .I have already ordered new kitchen and appliances including the main oven and steam oven both Miele as they are to be housed together. Gaggenau sounds like a dream piece of kit but I am working to budget, though I did wonder about having to fill the water tank and how often also descaling(we have hard water in my area) I hope I get as much use from this oven as you do yours despite the restrictions of temperature
thanks again
