Deck the halls

We always have our birthday cards up for 7 days. My husband's birthday is on December 12th - he gets his 7 days and then I do our Christmas decorations on the 20th!

We always put ours up on my Mum's birthday - 11 Dec.

OH would prefer to only out them up on Xmas Eve & to take them down again Boxing Day, but then he really is a miserable old s*d every Xmas.

Christmas Tree

Mine is up and decorated. Don't have much else in the way of decorations though, apart from various candles. I like to put it away straight after New Year though; never wait until 12th night as in days' gone by.

I'm planning on decorating our (artificial) tree on Sunday. Also, put the wreath on the front door. My OH moans and groans every year. Never buys or packs a present. Never buys or writes a card etc. My problem is I have to store away china etc I have on shelves so that I can replace with holly and christmassy things etc so I do find that a chore. Even so I think it is worthwhile.

Deck the halls

1st December in my house (usually most years).

spent enough money on the bauble and what nots over the years - so i want to SEE them.

and they normally get taken down between boxing day and new years eve.

Deck the Halls

My halls will be decked a few days before Christmas, shortly after I've cleared enough space in which to deck them. I might put some fairy lights around my computer monitor before then, but with 3 cats and 2 dogs, most decking will be pulled down/played with/eaten more or less as soon as it goes up, so it's not worth a lot of effort!

DG - we adopted two cats from local rescue centre two months ago following our last cats' demise in May. They are brothers and had lived at the centre since abandoned at 8 weeks old. Now 15 months and basically still kittens mentally. My son pointed out that all efforts of our normal Christmas decor are doomed to failure - horrible feeling he is right !!

Good advice. Kittens and decorations don't go! Just put Christmas ornaments around the place.

Good to know I'm not the only one tolerating a grumpy OH !
These days I get the bubbly out far too early and amazingly he becomes quite affable by the time dinner is served !

Deck the halls

When I bought my cat, she decided the Christmas Tree had but one purpose, and that was to be climbed. After the first Christmas spent constantly putting back the tree that she had knocked down, I decided that a cat on the tip of the tree simply didn't substitute for an angel or a star. That was the last year we had a tree. :(

I now decorate our mantel and do decorations around the house. These went up this weekend and will come down after Boxing Day.

Christmas Tree

I used to put the Christmas tree up a few days before Christmas but this year mine wemt up on the 11th December. I have a real tree and wreath and think we might as well have the pleasure of them for as long as possible. We do have some icicle lights but they are not up yet. I love to see the lights decorating people's houses, it really brightens up drear old winter.
