Staying in Picardy

I have a mad urge to see my old friend who lives in the Picardy region. Has anyone any advice about small B&Bs or hotels? I would email her but I know she'll want me to stay with the family and I'd rather have a bit of time to myself - the highlight would be meeting them for lunch or dinner.

Picardy - Abbeville ?

We used to stop over in Abbeville on our return journeys to the UK, before we moved here permanently. Broke the journey and is within easy driving distance of Boulogne and Calais +/- an hour. Never had much time to explore it but it appears a lively little town with plenty of accomodations and eating places. We usually stayed at the Mercure, which has (not been for over 2 years now) an excellent resto. Not sure if this is anywhere near where you want to be. I'm being a tad presumptious, perhaps, Abbeville is a place I'm not unhappy to be on my own.

Picardy

Alas I have no transport and can only go for a weekend Biggles so I need to get there without too much fuss. Perhaps fate is telling me not to try it this time, wait till have another bike and enjoy pootling?
