Fao Nor....end of Lent?

I've just read on the internet 2 conflicting articles on when Lent ends (ok so I'm getting desperate now!!) One says that it finishes at sundown on Maundy Thursday and the other says it ends on Holy Saturday. Neither of them say anything about waiting till Easter Sunday! Also I've just learned that Sundays are not included in Lent.......now they tell me!!!!!

So just exactly when I can have my longed for sarnie and glass of chilled white? Anyone know?

End of Lent

I always took it from starting from Ash Wednesday and finishing on Easter Sunday.... Maybe there are some slight deviations? I'm on the home straight now and totally focussed on my toast on Sunday morning. Only five sleeps!

End of Lent

From what I understand Lent finishes with the service on Easter Saturday - so go early and relax!

End of Lent..

I always thought that that Palm Sunday (ie last Sunday) was the last Sunday in Lent, therefore Saturday coming, would be the last day of Lent - unless my reckoning is totally wrong of course! Easter Sunday morning is when you should be enjoying your bread again (again, to my way of reckoning it and I stand to be corrected!)

PS to end of Lent...

Saturday would end at midnight, Easter Sunday would begin at 12.01 am - again, my way of reckoning so no toast on Saturday. Well done Tubs and Nor for your fortitude, I'm proud of you both.

End of Lent

Ahh thanks Liz. I thought I might be clutching at straws about it ending tomorrow night!!!!
Worryingly, the absence of bread has become far more difficult than the absence of wine! I'm hoping my wine taste buds will be back to normal by lunchtime Sunday!!!

End of Lent

Hope this helps; Lent starts on Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday, and lasts for 40days which makes the end of Lent the Saturday following Good Friday at midnight. So Easter is celebrated on Easter Sunday - have a lovely piece (or three) of hot oldfashioned granary bread on saunday: and remember you can't have any toasted hot cross buns!!

Awwww Kay, you go and mention granary bread.....!

I'm sticking with my toast Sunday morning, Tubs, are you going to hang on too?

Two sleeps to go now.........!

Yes I'm hanging on in there! Have never been so excited over a slice of toast!!!!
Going to be difficult tomorrow, got visitors for lunch and dinner! So OH is making homemade sunflower seed bread to go with trout pate for lunch. How inconsiderate of him!!!!!! Made Thai prawn curry (amongst other things)for dinner, Is naan bread REALLY bread?????????

(By the way have also made Leek quiches, lentil curry (guests are veggies) salmon coubliac, chocolate pots, strawberry mousse and pina colada cheescake. Have been chained to the kitchen all day. I hear it was a glorious day outside!!!!)
