Eating In New York

I'm off to New York in a weeks time, we're staying in the upper east side on 77th street and was wondering if anybody had any recommendations of places to eat/drink that won't break the bank

I used to live on E. 73rd for many
years, but the neighborhood has changed a good deal since I was there. On Second Ave, between 84 and 85th Streets, you can find what's left of Yorkville, the neighborhood heavily populated by Hungarians and German. Heidelberg has great beer and pretty good German food. Acros the street, Andre's cafe has Hungarian pastry and food. On Third Ave, Grace's Marketplace near E. 71st Street has very good take out food and a trattoria. Citarella on Third Ave at 75th also has very good take out items. A friend loves the crabcakes at Atlantic Grill on Third between 76th and 77th. Also, check out the restaurants in NYmag.com. The weathers' really lousy today--hope it gets better for you next week.

Forgot to mention..for a very NY experience, you might want to try Papaya King on E. 86th and Third. They serve hot dogs, french fries, and tropical drinks. Haven't been to this one yet, but I was told by friends that Pio Pio on First Ave. between 90th and 91st has great pollos a la brasa--in this case Peruvian rotisserie chicken(There are lots of Latin American chicken places in Jackson Hts,Queens.) Speaking of Queens, Flushing is the new Chinatown. The Red Chopstick at 136-17 41st Ave. is very good.
If I think of anymore, I will post them. Are there any specific cuisines you're looking for?
