Off to Delia's Restaurant & Bar tomorrow!

Having a mini-break in Norwich and visiting the folks too.

Very excited. Have been a few times before and it is always lovely.

It is so refreshing to eat in a lovely space, receive great service, eat delicious food and not be ripped off in the process. Wines are really reasonable too.

Off to Delia's Restaurant & Bar tomorrow

Steven are you driving up or getting the train?

Had a great time at Delia's Restaurant

Arrived last Friday to our hotel right by the Norwich City Football Ground and Delia's restaurant just as the news regarding Stephen Fry being appointed as a Director of the football club was being broadcast. Delia was being interviewed live on the local news in the very next building to where we were!

We were hoping that this may mean that she, Stephen and Michael may have been eating in the restaurant that night, but they weren't.

Restaurant was full and had a lovely atmosphere when we arrived. Although I do have to say that I think we were the youngest table in the whole restaurant, which is something that I have become less accustomed to being as the years have passed by!!!

Service (mostly) impeccable. Very friendly. Delicious bread stick nibbles and home made piccalilli (sp?) vegetables. I had "Russian Eggs" to start, which was something very simple but delicious. Paul had gratinated tiger prawns and our friend had duck liver pate. We all thoroughly enjoyed.

We all had the duck breast and confit duck leg with sour cherry sauce and potato boulangere to follow. Absolutely delcious. Breast cooked to perfection and the sour cherries the perfect accompaniment to cut through the rich taste of all that duck fat. My only criticism was that the confit leg was on the small side but then again I am overweight so it was probably just the right size.

Pudding was summerfruit millefeuille for Paul and me and profiteroles for our friend. How lovely to eat proper homemade pastry. I have attempted to make this dessert twice and the pastry had burned on both occasions!

Cheese, delicious petit fours and coffee followed and all in all was a fab night and I feel very reasonable for the quality and amount of food and service.
