Cyprus

Have booked a villa overlooking Coral Bay in July. Never been and although I have done my homework re. places to visit would love suggestions as to where to eat.
Preferably not the usual tourist trail but somewhere you just came across and thought " Brilliant ".

Maket in Paphos

Just popped into one of the many eateries and the food was as good as it smelt. Also up in old Paphos town at the top of the hill you should find a very unpretentious cafe where the locals are eating. Thierry first went there over 30 years ago and we went about 13 years ago. I would imagine it is still there, a family run business.

I think Coral Bay has changed a bit since I was there but it is a beautiful bay. Come to think of it I don't think we had a duff meal in Cyprus only at our own hotel which was called Fawlty Towers by we residents :0)

Have a lovely holiday :0)

Thanks Biggles - a star as always.
Promise to report back !
Not totally against tourist restaurants but always find a great deal of show not a great deal of substance.
Of course one should always eat where the locals are but with only a couple of weeks you invariably find the great place the day or two before coming home !

Cyprus--eating out

We stayed in many places in Cyprus including overlooking Coral Bay. The village of Peyia up the hill at back has several good tavernas and one just a way out of village on hill called Zucchinis is very good--or was a year or so ago. Went to some ok places actually in Coral Bay too. If you have transport take the road out on Akamas and there is a taverna perched high up with a name something like Valkyre. It gets busy but we liked it. Could go on and on but most places are really good. Paphos Harbour is not so laid back-a bit quick. Hondros on main road down to Pahos harbour-turn right off Tomb of Kings road at Roman hotel. It sounds as if we ate our way round but it was sooo tasty. Have a wonderful time. Do you know any good places to eat in Glencoe!!!
