We had four days in Alderney a couple of years ago and did struggle. One restaurant was really good but did have steps down. Will have a good think and let you know. I might have some info somewhere and I will google. Get back to you soon.

Susan--I have looked at Visit Alderney and we definitely ate at the Georgian House Hotel, in Victoria street St Annes, in the Orangery. It was late and we were worried it would be overpriced but it was fine. Also had w/anniv dinner in a small place just up from Braye Harbour. I think it was Bumps but husband not sure. Rest/cafe on corner of Victoria street opp Vict hotel was horrid. Enjoy your trip.

Alderney

A fantastic place, good restaurants down in Braye and the pubs there are ok too although service can be slow in The Moorings.
Best visited on foot or by bike although if in convalesance that might not be so good. Very small but mooving museum in St Annes about being evacuated and then coming back after the war. Georgian hotel well worth it, have had good lunches there.
Enjoy the peace and calmness, the wildlife and plenty of forts from various eras to visit (napoleon, victorian, ww2)
We always sail there every summer and I can't wait to go back there this year, at easter weather permitting.
Everyone knows everyone and everything on the island so don't be worried about asking for info and advice.

Have a great time, a perfect place to enjoy time together in my opinion
