Do the weights come with it? Doesn't say.

Looks like you have to buy the eights separately, but this is normal with these scales.

There is also a similar type of scales at Amazon.com which are a bit cheaper but you also have to buy the weights separately.

Kitchen balance scales

I think the ones shown are H Fereday & Sons Queen Traditional Kitchen Scales with Stainless Steel Pan which are on Amazon site. In the product description it says they are used by Delia Smith on TV.

Scales

"I guess you've got your reasons but I would seldom use a balance scale if a digital is available. Digital are so accurate you can weigh letters and are a boon when baking to formula.

Scales do like nice, though. I think Argos used to do them, you could try there for your weights. "

Yes, digital are great - especially when you get them out at 11pm because you've just been told you have to provide a home-made cake for the following morning and you find that the *&^%! batery is flat! What idiot decided that battery operated gadgets in the kitchen were a good idea?

Give me the old-fashioned Weylux Queen scales any day. I've had my eye on my mother's 60 year old ones for years but when I went looking for them when I was clearing her house after she went into the home ....she'd sent them to the jumble sale! Arrggghhhh!!!

A lot of modern scales have very small bowls. Not very helpful when you are weighing fruit for jam, etc., and there's a lot of it.

What idiot told you to make a cake at 11pm for the next morning?!!!! Think I'd be cursing them, rather than the scales;)

batteries

I but has always been my way. The only battery things I have in the kitchen are a thermometer probe, a digital timer and the scales --- oh, and a torch to help look into the farthest reaches of cupboards. We've had the present scales for around five years and I have still not had to replace the battery(ies)."
........
Yes, I and buy in "bulk"
and keep a drawerful of batteries but for some reason the one you want NOW is never there.

You're doing very well for 5 years use of your scales with one battery. I never got more than a couple of months out of mine (mind you, they were in daily use)
