petite marmites

Many years ago we purchased some soup bowls which I think were called Petite Marmites. They were like mini casseroles in Terracotta with a glazed lining, a lid and two 'lug'handles. I seem to remember similar when I was a boy xx years ago!. I still have five and would like to make up the set again. Can't see them on the web. Any help would be much appreciated

Google lidded soup bowls.

replaceyourchina.com has 'Ode Denby lidded soup bowls' which might be similar, but there are lots of different types out there.

Le Creuset.....

do these type of bowls. If you go to the shop portion of this site, you'll be able to order, assuming that these are the type you want. Also, if you order through the shop, then the site gets a few pennies commission (works with Amazon too) so keeping the site free to use for us.

I think you mean the ones which are not glazed on the outside, don't you.

Your best bet is a trip to France or Spain but failing that, it might be worth trying somewhere like Habitat

Yes I think you have an idea of what I mean. I know we got some terracotta in Spain but I think these were got in UK. As I said I am sure we had similar in my youth. That was in Scottish Highlands in the 1930's! and would not have been bought abroad. Probably long discontinued. Ah Well!

Have a look on eBay - I did a search on 'lidded soup bowls' an 'casseroles' after reading this thread, and I think you might find what you're looking for if you do the same :)

A company called Brannan used to make this sort of thing but I think they are no longer in business
