Thermomix

Anyone ever used or heard of a Thermomix. I live in Australia and they are big news over here and in continental Europe. Amazing machine that does everything

I've heard of them - from this website!! Googled them and couldn't believe the price!!!
I'm in Oz too, but haven't heard anyone mention them at all - didn't realise they were "big news"!!

Just checked your profile - are you actually selling the machines?

no I don't sell them, consultants sell them, just started an admin job in their head office. wondered if any of the Delia crowd had heard of them. They are pricey but when you think of what you pay for a Kitchen Aid, and it's a German made product, this cooks too. Loads of orders after it appeared on Iron Chef and Come Dine with me Australia. They do so much, a risotto, sorbet, make and prove dough, cakes, slow cooks, chops and blends. It weighs everything as well. Basically all those kitchen appliances you have in one!
Great for a busy working mum like me!

Hi Again Gingernut, I think Rita, uses one of these and swears by it...

Not sure wherabouts you are in Perth, but apart from my friend moving last year, my (long ago) school friend has lived there for about 20 odd yrs and lives in Mount Pleasant, just up from the River. We visited her in 2000 for 6 weeks, gorgeous place.

thermomix in UK

There's a website giving a list of presentations in the UK.

Reading the list of things it can do I was surprised to see it didn't make the tea and put the kids to bed.

"I remember similar comments when the french guy invented the home food processor in the 60's, it will never catch on."

The Thermomix has been around since the 60's too, in Germany, so it's taking a long time to catch on!!!

Don't know what it costs in UK, but here in Oz it's nearly $2,000. The Kitchen Aid and Magimix type machines are about $800 - so it is super expensive. Especially if you've already got a few 'gadgets', which I think most of us have.

THERMOMIX

hello, I have had my Thermomix for nearly 3 years, its a magnificent machine. It's not cheap but used properly it pays for itself in the first year. It can do so much, it weighs, it cooks, it steams and that's just the beginning. The longer I have it, the more I find it can do. I wouldnt be without it now and even bought an extra bowl for it. If you are in any doubt give them a call and ask for a demonstration, you will be left in no doubt that it is great value for money compared with many other appliances on the market
