Kenwood mini chopper

I have broken the lid on my mini chopper. Kenwood tell me that I cannot buy a new lid without buying a blade (they come as a package) and the cost will be around £25! This is crazy, I don't need a new blade! I can buy a new machine for less than that! but I begrudge throwing away an otherwise perfect product. Anyone got a spare lid or any other ideas?

Which model? and what does the lid do? Have a look around the kitchen. I made a new lid/cover for a blender by cutting an old plastic box lid to fit. If it does the job one else will see it. Save the money I say.

It's the ch180a (a Cheat appliance as recommended by Delia) unfortunately it has, or had, a little knob that clicks into place to make it work. Not sure I would be able to improvise, but good thought though for any future mishaps. I have written today to the MD of Kenwood to complain about the unwanted wastage of having to buy something I don't really need. Be interesting to see what response I get.

Kenwood mini chopper.

I don't think that would work, Cherrypicker. The lid has to slot in correctly for the motor to be able to work. Like most food processors.

If no one has a spare lid, and I can't really imagine people would have, you'll have to buy a new one I think, Tubbs. Does seem silly though.

Kenwood mini chopper CH180

HiTubbs,I have just had a look at the site that Rosemary suggested, and I think it is the correct part.I am copying the info here as it is helpful as it explains why you have to buy the lid and the blade.
Kenwood mini chopper CH180 Blade/lid assembly
Kenwood mini chopper CH180 Blade/lid assembly

Fits models CH180.

Design changes to both the LID and the KNIFE BLADE ASSEMBLY at date code 2D15, mean that both parts must be replaced together. Therefore these parts will not be available separately. The BOWL was not affected by these changes.

Price: £9.33 (Including VAT at 17.5%)
Best Wishes Stephanie
