Santoku Knife

I just bought one of these knives from TKMaxx yesterday, but I am not sure how to take care of it. Do they need sharpening?

Like all knives made from steel it will need sharpening eventualy, ceramic is the only knife material that you don't sharpen, in fact it is impossible to sharpen it without special diamond grit honing stones.

Thank you John S, I thought no-one was going to respond to my query! Do you know what kind of sharpener I should use when I need to ?

Arm yourself with a whet stone and a steel and you will be all set.

Buying a good quality steel is just as important as buying a good quality knife, don't waste good money on what seems to be a "bargain", good steels are expensive!, the cheap ones are usually made from "soft" material and would serve better purpose as a poker for the fire than for sharpening knives.
