Cooker hood filter

Morning--I need a bit of help here. When the buiders fitted our new kitchen, including a Howdens cooker hood, the sily so and so's put the instruction leaflet on the skip before I realised. I now need to clean the filter mesh thingy. The whole thing is connected to an outside extractor and the mesh is easily detached. Problem is how do I clean it. Can I put the whole thing in hot soapy water or is there something inside that should be removed/renewed as well as cleaning the outside bits?
Thanks in advance.

Could you not contact Howdens ? Most appliances have instructions on line.
Sorry but only advice I would give without knowing the product !

Howdens

I've just had a look on Google and there are several different ones. Mine is all metal and that's why it goes in the dishwasher (not Howdens).

Cooker Hood Filter

Thanks both.
Hubby plunged it in hot soapy water and gave it a gentle scrub then dried it with the hairdrier!! It seems to have done the trick but I will def use the dishwasher next time--and not leave it so long.
Thanks again

i have a similar sounding hood. once a week when i remember i plunge into hot soapy water leave to soak and scrub it with my "brillo" pad, and leave to drain, have never bothered drying it as it has a double layer of mesh grill, just rub at it with a tea towel and put it back to "drip dry" and when i do run my dishwasher (about 3-4 times a year) i always put them in it.

Dishwasher top basket, lie it flat on top of cups/mugs so it doesn't take up a plate space in bottom basket or impede the rotation of the spray arm for the top basket and due to its double screen construction it gets it cleaner that way.

Just to add, NEVER use oven cleaner to clean it, they are usually made from aluminium and oven cleaner turns aluminium black.
