Very simple toaster

Keen to know which brand to buy? Or want to share a great purchase with the rest of us? This is the place to do it...

Very simple toaster

Sorry, we've probably done this before. Can anyone recommend a very simple toaster that can do croissants and sandwiches? I don't need anything that will tap dance at the same time.

Toaster.

Well, any toaster will do croissants cut in half, and if you get toaster bags, will also do a sandwich.

What exactly are you after babe?

Toaster

This sounds mad, but when you go to buy toaster take a slice of the usual bread you use in a plastic bag and test whether the whole slice will go in the slot. Seems elimentary to produce toasters with deep enough slots but apparently not.....

I want something that toasts more than a slice of bread. I fancy buying those bags from Lakeland and doing a juicy cheese'n'onion thing. My sister has a bog standard toaster and I'm forever having to dig out bits of stuff with a sharp knife.

So then Squeeks, what you are looking for it not a simple toaster is it?

You want one that works, and thats a tall order unless spending ££££'s.

Now stop it James. I just need one with a bigger hole.

I agree with Welshcookie though. Why do they never make them deep enough? Not everyone buys that square plastic white bread surely?

Toast

Toaster bags are good, but still need deep slot or the top of slices stay cold!!

Eh?

You should give it a go Lemain, split in half and they go crispy in seconds. I'm not sure I'd bother with the expense of heating the oven just for one croissant.

Could just go for one now actually! :)

toaster

sorry - bit late here

can you get toaster ovens there?

See them everywhere here - they look like a teeny weeny microwave, but have an element at the top and a flat tray you can pop things on to toast

so they're good for anything you want to lay down, like a sandwich, rather than have it slip out the bottom....great for reheating pizza, toasting a bagel (as they seem to get wedged in toasters)

cheap too

Here's a link to a pic

Russell Hobbs

Hi Sqeaky I've got a Russell Hobbs toaster bought here in France which almost takes a slice from my 2 lbs loaf (I have the toaster set to a light mode and do 2'ce and turn the slive upside down for the 2nd round. On the top is where one warms a croissant, one at a time. Special croissant warming feature but what else else would you expect in the land of the croissant :0)

Much cheaper than firing up the oven :0)
