Foil containers with matching mic/ovenware

For a while, my wife and I are having to have different food for dietary reasons. I have been preparing small bulk meals (enough for four to six) then freeze portions in 'chinese' foil boxes with lids. We have a combi microwave and I'd like to find some ovenware that will take the standard size foil boxes either to drop-in or for good visual appeal, tear open the frozen meal and drop straight into the ovenware.

I'd bet that the professionals using the likes of Brakes do this all the time...but can anyone steer me towards the foils and dishes for domestic use?

Many thanks. And Happy New Year, everyone, rather belatedly, have been too tied up to post or even view the forum. Hope everyone is well and escaped the 'Merry' season still well and happy, if not 'merry'!!

For Tom

Hello Tom,

Happy New Year to you too.

Denby do a 500ml oblong dish which I think is 21cm by 13cm.

Pyrex make rectangular dishes that can go from the freezer to the oven (and have plastic lids to seal them whilst they are in the freezer).

Best wishes

Lindsey

Hi Tomps, hope all the things that are affecting your wife clear up soon. I can recommend the pyrex containers for both cooking and freezing. I use them to make rhubarb crumbles and freeze them for my family to store when I have a glut - most years.
hope you didn't get flooded out!

Hi Karen, thanks for that, I am going on the prowl tomorrow. My son-in-law is a chef and he was taught that first of all, we eat with our eyes. So very true. A bit of (delicious) food wrapped roughly in greaseproof covered with crinkly-looking foil will be delicious but almost always gets thrown out on its second or third birthday. That's what we do, anyway!

No floods affecting our home thankfully, thanks for asking :-) Many many folk haven't been so fortunate :-(

I've just bought two 500ml Pyrex with plastic lids on special offer from Morrisons £2-50 marked down from £5 until near the end of Jan. Have a real quality feel. 500ml is a bit too big for a meal for one unless one does it as a TV dinner.

Wondering whether to do homemade TV roasts with home cooked meat and gravy, with a separator (foil) for roast pots and frozen veg. What are shop or home frozen roast pots like?

Pyrex bargains

That sounds like a bargain. Might have to pop along to morrisons for a look....

Not a routine purchase for me, but frozen roasties are ok, same quality as oven chips really, I have tried them & they were perfectly acceptable, & I bought the same make that I prefer when I buy oven chips.

Thanks QOP. Are they the Mcwhatsits or the AuntDoodah's? I think it could work well in the combo mic? 130C oven and medium mic? If the veg are frozen and covered with butter or butter sauce, they could work well, too. Yum, my tum is rumbling.
